Fred Rice

Fred L. Rice, 75, formerly of Frankfort, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019, at Essex Nursing Home in Lebanon.  He was born December 20, 1943, in Frankfort, to Sherman T. and Bettie J. (Bledsoe) Rice.

In 1962, Fred graduated from Frankfort High School and then served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He had worked at Frankfort Schools and later for Parkview Home.  Fred was a member of the Frankfort Masonic Lodge; his true passion was playing the piano.

A private graveside service was held at Whiteman Cemetery near Michigantown.  Memorials in Fred’s name may be made to the Indiana Veterans Home.  Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with online condolences directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.

Becky Rhodes (Turner)

 I regret that I did not know he was so near. Freddie was my childhood friend for a while.  I often wondered where he was, and tried to look him up several years ago. I heard he played piano with some big name entertainers, Elvis for one. H played for me when we were kids.  His obit does not mention family. I think he had a sister, but not sure. It has been so long. He was a kind and gentle soul.
